A store by the campgrounds- Indiana- after classes

After classes, a portal picked people up from the causeway and transported them to Indiana. (An Indiana, it should be said, where no one had passed any stupid laws in the last week and therefore no one had to feel weird about spending money or not there.) But before moving on to the campgrounds, there'd be a trip to the store for any other supplies that might be needed.

While tents and sleeping bags were provided, any food or last-minute things you might need for a weekend in the woods should probably be gotten now. Happy shopping!

Camping supplies and food are moddable. Because people trying to co-shop for three days in the woods might possibly be interesting.

The actual camping post will go up in a few hours!

Ftr I went on one camping trip in high school where we made a stop like this and because we were all 15/16 we left with s'mores and Jolt Cola and nothing else and NO ONE SLEPT.

"...is it really ice cream if it's not, you know, iced?" Irene wondered, holding up the packet a little away from her, as though the faux-cream might bite through the plastic.

Irene, not being much of an ice cream girl most days, was very willing to be wrong, here. But she had the sinking feeling she was not, and that she had made a terrible mistake in agreeing to go on this trip.

Mostly Kitty was making sure they had the typical camping foods, like hot dogs and s'mores. Did it say something about her that that's where her focus was? She should probably get like, bottled water and batteries to look responsible.

"Is that like astronaut ice cream?" Kitty asked.

"It's room temperature ice cream in a little bag," Irene said, frowning and shaking it a little. "Are astronauts fond of ice cream? I didn't know that was part of their whole...astronaut thing."

"There's certain things they can't really have in space because it's, you know, space, so they dehydrate it. I used to get it in the museum gift shops when I was a kid," Kitty said. "It's dry, but I think you should get it for the experience."

Irene just looked at her. "The experience of eating dry ice cream?" she asked, because maybe Kitty meant some other, better experience.

"Yep. Just to say you did it," she said.

"I feel as though this is going to be a common theme this weekend," Irene noted, a touch suspiciously.

She'd get the stupid ice cream, though. She could always throw it at one of the children if it was awful.

"Not a fan of camping?" Kitty asked, partly because she was a brat.

"I've never been," Irene said airily, because she was also a brat. "It's nice so far, though. There's shopping."

Things would probably go downhill from the shopping part, yep.

"It won't be too bad," Kitty assured her. "And if it is, well, it's just a weekend."

"I was in prison for multiple weeks. It can't be worse than that," Irene said optimistically. "I mean, already, look how charming this area is! I don't think I'd ever even heard of Indiana before this!"

Wait until she realized she was sleeping in a tent. All that optimism was going to be so short-lived.

"Welcome to the Midwest. A lot of it's like this," Kitty said. "It'll get... woodsier."

Mara, who had a few vibroblades tucked into her boots, was trying to look around like she had no idea what to buy.

"So...marshmallows?"

"That seems like a classic, right?" Sia said. Not that she'd ever really done much of that...

Mara nodded. "And...chocolate, right?"

"And the cracker things," Sia said. "I've never been sure how you cook one of those without everything falling into the fire..."

Mara looked relieved. "I'm so glad I'm not the only one! It doesn't seem like a cracker would go on a stick very easily."

She was picking out Ritz crackers. No, Mara.

Buttery deliciousness!

"Does it matter what kind of cracker?" Sia asked. "Should we choose a few?"

"Maybe not the ones with the cheese and peanut butter," Mara said, reaching past the nasty gross crackers to get the Wheat Thins.

Teeny tiny s'mores?

"Those aren't the flavored ones, are they?" Sia said, thankfully knowing to check that at least.

Mara looked at the box more carefully. "Honey Mustard. Ew."

"Let's not use that one," Sia said immediately.
