Ekincik Bay, Turkey, Monday Evening

Evening starts late in Ekincik Bay, after a long day of excursions, sunbathing, and swimming, and the travelers are most definitely welcome to extend all three of those into the twilight. (Though the sunbathing part gets a little difficult after a while.)

When true night falls, this place doesn't quite have the shopping and entertainment options of yesterday's port, but the locals have done their best to make up for that with a late-night party on the beach, featuring local bands, free food, and all the sand your bare feet can kick up!

All meals aboard ship (and your sunset drinks) are served in the dining room and saloon on the main deck of your gulet. If you're not feeling sociable enough for beach blanket bingo, you can still sit down to dinner at sea.

On Shore - Beach Party

Kick up those feet to the music, or just sprawl on the sand and warm your toes at the bonfire while you stuff your face with delicious Mediterranean beach food.

Beach Party - Mingling and Food

There's midye dolması (mussels stuffed with rice), boiled corn on the cob, simit (pastry coated in grape molasses and sprinkled in toasted sesame seeds), fried calamari and sardines, a variety of sandwiches dripping with meat and melted cheese, fresh fruit, and plenty of Efes, soft drinks or lemonade to wash it all down.

There's a space in the sand for dancing, and a couple of local bands whose membership seems to vary based only on whose brother-in-law leaves the stage when some other guy picks up a guitar, playing everything from traditional folkdance music to modern Turkish pop to covers of Eurovision and Top 40 tunes that might make it hard to dance and facepalm at the same time, but somehow, you'll manage.

Every party has shadowy corners; on this beach, they're just a little sandier, a little more likely to change based on the tideline, and you might have to avoid tripping over a turtle or two in the dark.

Cade had a giant pile of food on a plate in his lap and five beers lined up next to him in the sand.

He liked this spot here by the fire and didn't want to get up soon, okay?

Staring into the fire had its charms, but... so did sitting down here, staring up at the sky and watching the stars.

Kaidan liked Earth. Don't get him wrong. But he missed being out there when he wasn't there, and... well, here wasn't home.

Atton loaded up on food and Efes; after that, he drifted closer to the bonfire, but not too close.

Eventually Emily found her way to the sea. What, it was basically a given she would go and get knee deep into the water eventually. It wasn't as cold as Fandom, which was a good thing, but it sort of ruined her philosophy. Still, it was nice and the sound of waves managed to wash away the sounds of...people, basically.

She only hoped not to get in the way of a sea turtle. That would end badly.

Exotic food being served meant Emily was going to stuff herself with whatever interesting she could find. The guy eating like there was no tomorrow? Also interesting.

"You know we're going to still be surrounded by food basically the whole time, right? Unless the next stop is a shipwreck in a deserted island." Emily was going to knock on wood just to be sure.
