It was worth paying the extra money to have the car delivered Isabel thought as she loaded her bag into the back of the Suburban. The carnival was too much fun, she wouldn't have wanted to miss it.

Looking at her watch, she hoped the others would get there soon. They had a five hour drive ahead of them and that didn't include stopping for dinner.

Jack arrived after Jarod, and slung his gear on the ground. "We're here first - does that mean we get to call seats?"

With an heroic effort, Jack resisted temptation. Mostly, "I can think of a few things," he said innocently. "How badly do you want to know?"

Sam showed up with her pack on her back, boots on her feet, and a floppy green boonie hat on her head. Hey, it's a thing. "Isabel, this is a brilliant idea."

"I promise I'll help you dry and style it once we're off the river on Saturday afternoon," Isabel smiled. She pulled on the thick braid she'd tied her hair in. "How do you think I'm going to deal with this?"
