Kellerman's Resort, Tuesday Morning and Afternoon, October 13th

The weather at Kellerman's continued to be favourable, as the autumn sun shone down on the fields and streams of the area. The staff of the resort were busy but happy to help, bustling through the corridors and courtyard.

The boards outside were advertising a white water rafting trip today, for anyone willing to go out and risk the rapids; for the less adventurous, a trip to see the Cascade Falls might just do the trick.

That firmed up her smile a little, and she reached out to catch the tips of his fingers with her own. "I know. I love you, too," Tahiri said softly.

"This is much nicer than Yavin," he said, getting a firmer grip on her hand. "Not as many bugs the size of landspeeders."

Which was an exaggeration, yes.

She knew that, of course, and gave him an amused look. "I'm fine with a lack of giant bugs, myself."

"Because if you want a giant bug, I can harass Ender into putting on a costume," Ben said.

He so couldn't.

"Ben Skywalker, that's awful," Tahiri got out between giggles. "I'm just fine without them, really."

"Well, if you change your mind, you know where to find me," Ben replied, grinning.

Vacation was doing him good. He was smiling again.

"I'll remember that." Tahiri wished actual, complete relaxation would set in for her, but there was just a touch too much internal back-and-forth to quite let that happen. That look on Ben's face, though, was a welcome sight. "You look good today. Having fun so far?"

"Yes," Ben said. "It's nice to be somewhere with absolutely no memories of anyone else attached to it."

"Yeah. I know the feeling." Tahiri squeezed his hand. "I was worried, you know."

"About what?" he asked.

She shook her head in affectionate, if mild, exasperation. "You, dummy. What did you think?"

Ben's cheeks went red. "Oh. Me."

"Dork." She shook her head in amusement. "The point is, you're doing better this week."

His fingers curled more tightly around her hand. "And you're not?"

She supposed it was only fair for that kind of observation to go both ways. "I'm not doing worse," Tahiri tried.

Much. On a sliding scale.

"That's not reassuring," Ben replied quietly.

"Best I can do," she said with an apologetic grimace.

He moved his hand so he could wrap his arm around her shoulders instead. "Anything I can do?"

Not arguing at all with that move, Tahiri leaned into him. "Yeah. Give me one less thing to worry about and make sure you're as okay as this week will let you be."

Ben nodded. "I'll try not to hover, either," he promised.

Tahiri shook her head, smiling slightly. "When have I ever told you that you do that? I never mind having you around, and you give me plenty of space when I need it. If I thought you were hovering, you'd know."

He smiled back. "You'd tell me? How unlike the Tahiri I know."

"It's a revolutionary new concept. I'm giving it a try." Tahiri put her arm around his waist and looked up at him, all but the underlying residual strain (that was always there) temporarily gone from her expression. "It just might work."

He leaned in to kiss her. "I bet it will."

Tahiri laughed and reached up to touch his cheek as she kissed him. "Well, that's loads better than having a bad feeling about it."
