Spring Break, Cyseal, Thursday Evening

The night was once again cool but not uncomfortably so, and dotted with the welcoming fires of both tavern hearth and street brazier. It was a little less quiet than previous evenings, though, what with the wind moaning round corners at you, the further you might walk toward the edge of town.

That was the wind, wasn't it? Despite the complete lack of any tangible breeze on your skin?

This large inn is a beautiful construction of ornate brickwork, with flowers hanging off of every available surface on the outside.

The rooms are upstairs, modestly outfitted but spacious. There is a double bed or set of twin beds in each room, a bath with a privacy screen, a wardrobe (with time-and-place appropriate clothing included) and a desk. There are plenty of candles, and beautiful paintings hang off the walls.

Within, large red curtains separate the various booths and tables from the rest of the inn; while they are usually open, they may be closed if privacy is wished for. To the left, there is a large bar which covers the entire L-shaped curve of the back wall. There is the constant, comforting rumble of people chattering; the decor, the fireplace (with bear fur rug) and the candles speak of an intrinsic welcoming warmth. A grey tomcat wanders around the floor, sweet and clever.

The bar does not just serve drinks (though in Cyseal, they are not particularly interested in age limits), but it also serves food for the guests staying at the King Crab. At this time in the evening, you can buy drinks, various dinner dishes composed of vegetables with beef or fish, mashed potatoes, Rivellon fries, pumpkin and cheeses.

Right, about that strange howling outside...

There's a crowd standing outside of the market. They look... concerned... about the noise.

"It's the damnable lighthouse again," someone finally sighs.

"We should've done something about that ages ago."

"Ghosts," one will eventually admit. "There are ghouls living in the lighthouse. Sometimes they bother us."

A woman you might have noticed earlier if you were out during the day, gamboling about the streets in a much better mood, grumbles, "They can't even moan on-key."

A group of armed townspeople have decided to contain the threat, at least for the night. You can join them, if you wish, fighting off skeletons on the way to the lighthouse. Of course, the real fun-slash-trouble won't start until you get to the lighthouse...

...where you'll be greeted by several undead demonic dogs, a large skeletal ghoul that spits poison, and a couple of skeletal archers. The dogs are fast, but fragile, and a few blows will take them down; while the enormous ghoul (who could be described as rotund if he wasn't all-ribcage) can lash out and strike with its enormous bony hands when you come in close, its real power lies in the poison it spits, which will make you feel like crap for half a minute and wear you down. The archers try to stay behind the ghoul: it's probably the hardest-to-kill thing of the lot, while they can barely take two hits.

April was totally here to punch some undead dogs. She was more of a cat person anyway. And, you know, they were evil.

One of her punches sent a dog zombie sailing up, up in the air all the way away from where the rest of the crowd was fighting; she swore and yelled out, "Sorry!" before turning back to continue the fight.

The gates to the beach are open again tonight. Some of the locals have built a particularly big fire there to celebrate the departure of the last of the orcs, which now serves as a way to stave off any wandering ghosts or undead that might try to approach the city itself.

Those who aren't heading out to deal with the lighthouse can be found here, dancing, drinking and eating. (And in some cases, somewhat inadvisably drunken nighttime swimming.)

Yeah, some of Dante's nerves were still twitching. He'd done his share of violence for the day.

So he picked himself a nice boulder on the beach and lit up a cigarette, content to smoke in silence and watch the locals party. He'd head back soon, see if Ezra was still up.

But damn, some of 'em knew how to dance.

I would like to be swimming inadvisably and drunkenly at night. *eyes snow*

(Also I still want cheesy bread.)

Chicago was all prepared for the snow and you guys got it instead.

Nah, NWI got it. We got the same LOL half an inch in patches that you guys got. But it's been desultorily flaking down without sticking all day today, too.

Weirdest. Winter. Ever.
